How can I prepare my pet for surgery?

Your pet must be fasting (generally 8 hours before the procedure). Your pet may be allowed to drink up to 2 hours before the appointment.
For new pets, fasting protocols are different. These species should not be deprived of food; we will provide you with the details according to the species.
Be sure to inform our team of any current treatments when you arrive, and let them know if the morning treatments have been given. Bring your pet’s medical records and arrange for secure transport.

What should I do after my pet's surgery when I get home?

Follow post-operative care instructions: keep the operated area clean, administer prescribed medication and restrict movement as recommended. Follow-up visits will be scheduled to assess healing.
If you have any problems or concerns, we can be contacted 24/7 on 022 719 10 10.
Our emergency team is in constant contact with the surgical team to ensure the well-being of our patients.

Are there any contraindications to certain surgical procedures?

Yes, certain pathologies or a fragile general state of health can increase the risks of surgery and anesthesia. A complete pre-operative check-up will enable us to assess the feasibility of the operation. Any complications will be explained to you, and you can discuss them freely with our veterinary surgical team.

The team is very attentive and the vet is only interested in the well-being of your companion, not in billing for unnecessary procedures. I recommend this establishment, which is also very clean and easy to get to.

Advice from our veterinary surgeons:

  • Prepare your pet gently: avoid stressing him before the operation, and reassure him with a soft, calm voice.
  • Watch for post-operative signs: pain, swelling, loss of appetite or apathy require prompt consultation.
  • Post-operative rehabilitation: follow recommended exercises or movement restrictions to optimize recovery.

Vet. Med. Julie Selz, veterinary surgeon, advises :

“The success of a surgery depends as much on the procedure as on the post-operative follow-up.
Don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have during the consultation.”
